Winter Doubles 2026

Vauclusienne
Giles Cleal had a great week and now sits in a strong position at the top of the A division. He played two of his team mates from the European Championship in Seb and Craig. He duly won his first match 13-5 against Seb which set up a top of the table clash against Craig. With the first three ends all coming down to a last boule fire, he raced into a 5-0 lead before being pegged back to 7-6, with several dead ends along the way. He then extended his lead to 13-6 before an end where Craig was in control. Giles was in trouble and fired his fourth boule. Craig’s boule and the cochonnet moved together to the dead ball line at 11m. Craig’s boule remained live but the cochonnet crept over the line, meaning another dead end and an agonising result for Craig who was looking for a very high scoring end to give himself a chance of a comeback. Giles duly finished off the match in the next end to win convincingly 13-6.
Giles still needs to win two more games to be sure of taking the title. Behind the top two, several teams are close to each other with third place likely to be hotly contested. Dan and Fred have recovered from a poor start and will fancy their chances of a strong finish.
In Division B, previous leaders Martyn and Pat won their first game, but then lost against Sean and Bryan in a late game. This has opened the door for Avon and Rob who are now in the lead on points difference. The top two play each other in the last round to decide the league.

Placing Trophy
Craig Allen won the placing trophy.

Green’s Grand Prix Trophy 2025
Dan is in the lead, but will need to perform well in the Vauclusienne to ensure that he stays ahead of Craig. Seb will probably have to win the Vauclusienne to take the title.
